SA Fashion Week Opening Night

SA Fashion Week Opening Night

Over the past few weeks we’ve seen the stars flock to Paris for Paris Fashion Week. The whose who of the fashion industry were there and we saw the likes of Bonang Matheba and Thuso Mbedu walk for L’Oreal. Bonang Matheba described the moment as a highlight of her 20 year career.

I couldn’t help but notice that none of the South African fashion designers were showcasing at Paris Fashion Week. At the least I would’ve expected Thebe Magugu who is friends with Editor-In-Chief of Vogue; Anna Wintour to showcase. If not for Thebe Magugu then Rich Mnisi. We all know that David Tlale makes outdated clothing for grandmas so he had no business being at Paris Fashion Week but he is definitely gonna be bullying everyone at SA Fashion Week with his underwhelming clothes. He and Thula Sindi have our aunts on a chokehold.

SA Fashion Week is a long week of underwhelming fashion from the designers to the individuals who attend the shows. Last night was an opening night and some of your favourite influencers attended. The South African so-called A-List celebrities are surely over SA Fashion Week as we’ve seen over the past years most of them have not been attending. It’s only your influencers who attend this sham of a Fashion Week. Sometimes it’s so embarrassing to be South African.

Last night’s theme was ‘New York’ and as expected the girlies did not understand the theme. One of the influencers who attended was Londie London. She was dressed by her friend Suited By Q, she donned a white suit with pearls and tassels. The look was boring at best and the suit looked cheap as fuck. It certainly did not serve or remind anybody of ‘New York’. When she was asked what item she would never be caught wearing in public she responded by saying pumps. Gotta agree, who the hell wears pumps and why, that shit stink when it’s hot anyway.

Boity Thulo’s ex-boyfriend Anton Jephta also attended. I’ve noticed that he is always working at SA Fashion Week presenting some show and I always ask myself where do his shows air and who is watching them since baby boy is boring as fuck. Anyway, Kim Jayde was also there, my friends don’t know who Kim Jayde is but she is always there as well hustling.

One of my favourite looks had to be by Gigi Lamayne. She was dressed in a short metallic dress which seemed fun. The dress was borderline Strictly Come Dancing but in comparison to all the hustlers who were there she may as well be best dressed. Manje why u-Gigi e-creamer?

Also at the SA Fashion Week was transgender activist Yaya Mavundla. Her outfit had nothing to do with ‘New York’ the theme but when is babygirl gonna have the time to put her looks together since she wanna attend each and every event under the sun just like Dr Maweni. I’m surprised that one did not attend the opening night but rest assured she will show up one of these nights. Tumi Powerhouse was dressed by Queer Comfort. She donned a jean-to-jean situation with white pumps. Her shoes always look swollen because of that big ass men-feet.

Kay Sibiya and his girlfriend Judie Kama also attended. It’s not like they have anything better to do with their time anyway. Kay Sibiya hasn’t booked a job in a second and Judie Kama is now out hustling as a DJ. It also so happens that she was booked to play for this opening night. Did you also know that Kay Sibiya is now a DJ as well. I think this decision was highly influenced by his girlfriend since they are both unemployed they had to find the means to somehow make some coint. Totally loved their looks at SA Fashion Week. Kay Sibiya’s look served high fashion. It looked like he knew where he was going. Totally gave me Kanye West wase-kasi. The couple was dressed by Loxion Kulca. There’s nothing to say about Judie Kama’s look since Kay Sibiya’s look was the whole show.

Lesedi Matsunyane-Ferguson also attended and the question is why? She was dressed by David Tlale and as expected she looked like an old ass aunt going to a wedding in Diepkloof and not at an opening night of SA Fashion Week. Remember the black and white blazer Andile Ncube wore in one of the episodes of Young, African and Famous? Lesedi wore the dress to match that suit. Don’t like the dress, don’t like the girl. We gonna move on.

Denetric Malope was dressed by Samantha Jones. A white-lace two piece that looked cheap as fuck. Denetric is a South African model who is doing very well for themselves at the international stage. Having walked and modelled for some of the biggest names in the industry I couldn’t understand why wear this cheap ass lace thing. You would’ve thought after working with the big names gworl would’ve learned a thing or two about high fashion.

By the looks of things opening night of SA Fashion Week was trash.
