Myztro, Mellow & Sleazy Owe International Events Manager over R600 000
Seven Wise Global (SWG) is an events company based in Turkish Republic of North Cyprus. On the 1st May 2023; SWG contacted Golden Thread Agency which is representing Mellow & Sleazy. Golden Thread Agency is owned by Kagiso Malatji. The initial contact was to confirm a booking for a two-day event that was gonna take place in Cyprus on the 8th and 9th July 2023.
On May 5th 2023; SWG received correspondence from Golden Thread Agency that Mellow & Sleazy were not available for the 8th and 9th July 2023. Other acts were also booked for this two-day Amapiano Asylum event. Some of the acts booked included Tyler ICU, Justin99 and PCee.
Justin99 and PCee’s road manager Guluva therefore connected Mellow & Sleazy with the CEO of SWG where Mellow & Sleazy via video call expressed interest in coming to perform in Cyprus regardless of their unavailability for the two-day Amapiano Asylum event.
Subsequently SWG and Mellow & Sleazy entered into an agreement for a performance at a booking fee of $3500 or R66 000 for an event that was scheduled for the 22nd September 2023. Proof of payment of an amount of $2000 which is equivalent to R38 000 was sent to Khutso who is the manager at Golden Thread Agency and also forwarded to Justin99 and PCee’s road manager Guluva including reserved flight details. The agreement was the remaining $1500 was to be paid on artist arrival in Cyprus.
On the day of the flight Mellow & Sleazy missed their flights and an explanation was not given to SWG. Khutso – The manager at Golden Thread Agency revealed that Mellow & Sleazy do not like to perform abroad while justifying the missed event on the 22nd September 2023. Numerous attempts were made by SWG to acquire a refund from Golden Thread Agency which were futile. In an attempt to salvage the situation SWG proposed that Mellow & Sleazy rather perform at another event that is scheduled for the 22nd October 2023. Mellow & Sleazy are currently in Amsterdam and it has become apparent that they will not make it again for the 22nd October event.
SWG says they have since lost over $26 000 +/- R490 000 in costs due to the irregularities by Mellow & Sleazy. Not only did they suffer financial losses and reputational damage due to their lack of professionalism. Another international promoter in Dubai said booking Mellow & Sleazy is a financial risk since they are notorious for not showing up in Dubai as well.
For the event scheduled for the 22nd October 2023 not only did SWG try to re-book Mellow & Sleazy but they had also booked Myztro to perform at this event. On the 18th October 2023; Myztro communicated with SWG that he won’t be able to make it to the event citing an asthma attack. SWG therefore requested that Myztro and his team release an official statement explaining why Myztro was not gonna be able to attend the event seeing that patrons have already purchased the tickets.
Myztro was later seen in Cape Town drinking Jagemeister with Pabi Cooper, Focalistic and a few of their other friends. Myztro had demanded a full payment of $10 000 from SWG before he could leave the country. The said amount which is equivalent to R191 000 was paid by SWG.
Myztro’s excuse has left the booking managers at SWG feeling disgruntled.
